ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
Walking in Our Integrity The Oxford Dictionary defines "integrity" as the following: 1. The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.
When we think of walking in our integrity, we tend to think of the obvious ways that we can do that - for example, by not lying, cheating, or stealing. But integrity - though it most certainly includes those things - goes so much deeper than that.
Integrity means being the same person with the same principles, no matter if you are at work, at home, at church, around your friends, your family, online, etc. It means that if you are a believer in Christ, the principles of God's Word should be what everyone around us sees us acting out and speaking about - all the time. This additional definition of integrity listed below helps add another layer to its meaning for us:
2. The state of being whole and undivided.
This shows that choosing to operate with integrity means that we are operating as a whole person, an undivided person. This is so important because it also means that if we choose to not walk with integrity, we are divided. We are portraying opposing faces of who we are and what we stand for. Of course, there will be times when we mess it up. We are not perfect and there is no way that we can walk in perfect integrity by ourselves. But God has made a way for us to walk this out! Psalm 26:11-12 in the amplified version says:
But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; redeem me and be merciful and gracious to me. My foot stands on an even place; in the congregations will I bless the Lord.
We can be so thankful for verses like this! We cannot do it on our own. But we can decide to walk with integrity. The Holy Spirit is the One who redeems us and is merciful to us when we miss it. When we rely on Christ, He enables us to stand on an even, firm foundation, so that it is easier to walk in our integrity and be undivided as children of God.
"But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; redeem me and be merciful and gracious to me. My foot stands on an even place; in the congregations will I bless the Lord."Psalm 26:11 AMP
