ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
Lift Up Your Eyes Have you ever been so busy and laser-focused on a task, that before you know it, 3 hours have passed, and you somehow missed 3 phone calls, 14 text messages, and your spouse telling you dinner was ready 30 mins ago?
Giving all of your attention to something is a good skill to cultivate. It builds discipline and helps us to accomplish great things in our lives. Studying to pass an exam, spending time in God's Word, and taking time to help others are examples of how we can use our focus for the glory of God and the benefit of ourselves and those around us.
But take heed that we don't become so focused on our work and dedication, that we forget to look up from time to time.
It's easy to dig in and stay there, but from time to time, we need to pause and look up. To lift up our eyes, and look to see where God is moving and what He wants us to do. If God gave you an instruction yesterday, don't assume you will necessarily have the same instruction today, or tomorrow...
The Bible reminds us to rely completely on the Lord and not on our own understanding.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." (Prov. 3:5)
We can apply ourselves to many great things. But are they God's things? Sometimes, we need to pause, lift up our eyes, and remind ourselves where our help and wisdom comes from.
"I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth" (Psalm 121:1-2).
So, this week — as you do your work and set your focus on various things. Remember to take time to pause, look up, and see where your help comes from.

"I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2 ESV
