ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
Perseverance
Perseverance. It's one of those tongue-twister words that's hard to say and even harder to act out. It's meant to inspire or motivate us to accomplish something. But, if we're honest, walking it out is often anything but inspiring.
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, to persevere means: to persist in a state, enterprise, or undertaking in spite of counter influences, opposition, or discouragement.
An example would be running a race and not being able to tell where the end of the race is. You're running and running. The more you run, the more exhausted you become. You have to trust your training and trust that the end of the race will come — even though you can't see it.
The Bible talks a lot about enduring and persevering patiently through trials. Studying and meditating on these verses can encourage us to keep running our own races in life, even when we can't see how or where they will finish.
Hebrews 10:35-36 encourages us with this:
"So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that He has promised."
What race are you running today? No matter how difficult it is, the key to finishing is trusting in the Lord! Search God's Word for verses like the above one that will help encourage you to endure and persevere when you can't see the finish line.

Come out and bring your family and friends to our final Movie Afternoon for the summer! We'll be watching The Forge in the Sanctuary, and there will be Veggie Tales and childcare downstairs for the kids! Snacks will be available for purchase! Sunday afternoon at 2 PM at the church.
