ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
What is your legacy?
We are in that season where there is much thoughts of the future. Those who are graduating from grade 12 are planning for university or college, what career they want in life and what are they being led and called to do. University and college graduates are looking at joing the workforce and getting their feet wet on the paths that they have chosen. Or maybe poeple are thinking of switching career paths and going in a whole new direction, something new and exciting. All of us want to do something with our lives that means something, we want to leave a legacy behind and be remembered. There is nothing wrong with this, in fact the Bible talks about this in Proverbs 13, where a good person leaves an inheritance for their childrens children. We want to be remembered, because sometimes our biggest fear is being forgotten.
God has a different lesson for us though in leaving a legacy. "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:20-21. Our legacy is what is stored up for us in heaven not what is here on earth, our legacy is what waits for us when we go home. Everything on earth passes away, but heaven is forever.
Our heart and our legacy belong with God, we are to honour God with our lives and seek after Him in all that we do. And that I think is the greatest legacy we can ever have.

"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:20-21
