Beauty In The Journey
Are we there yet? Anyone who has ever been on a road trip with kids has probably heard that question more times than they'd like to remember.

Traveling from point A to point B often takes longer than we'd like it to, and even as adults - if we're honest - we are often checking the mileage, the maps, and the time, anxious to arrive at our destination. 

The same can be said for our spiritual lives. Even though we know growing in our walk and relationship with Christ is a process, we often try to rush it along, anxious to "arrive".

But in our lives — like those road trips, the journey itself is just as important as the arrival. In fact, the journey is what prepares us for what is ahead.

Throughout scripture, there are so many accounts of people whose journey in their faith was not what they expected, and took longer than they thought.

Abraham & Sarah waited 25 years for the fulfillment of their promised son, Isaac. (Genesis 12:4,7 & 21:5) 

Joseph was a teenager when he was sold into slavery by his brothers, and it wasn't until he was 30 that he was appointed 2nd in command to Pharaoh.
(Genesis 37:2 & 41:46)

David waited about 14–15 years to become king of Israel after he was anointed. (1 Samuel 16 & 2 Samuel 5)

Our lives — like the lives of those from scripture — can feel like those long road trips. And even harder sometimes, because we usually don't know the timeline. We aren't often told exactly how many weeks, months, or years it will be until we are through the part of the journey we are currently walking through.

But one thing we can do, is to stop looking at the time and the mileage signs, and just take moments here and there to enjoy the goodness of God around us. Because the journey isn't just about arriving at a destination. It's about learning to trust God a little more each day, and thanking Him for walking with us every step of the way. Growth happens in the midst of the journey. Faith develops in the journey. Take a moment today to pause and see the beauty of your journey in Christ.

The Senior's Breakfast is coming up this Thursday, May 21st, at 9:30 AM at the Nord-Bridge Seniors Center. Come for good food and great fellowship!

We are excited to have Tunde Bolanta from Nigeria speaking at One Life Church this coming Sunday, May 24th at 10:25 AM.

OLC's VBS 2026 is coming up fast! It will be a fun-packed week running from Monday, July 20th, to Thursday, July 23rd, from 1:30–4:30 PM each day. Ages 5–11. Cost is $20/child. (Price breaks are available for large families.) We are also looking for volunteers to help out that week, so if you are interested, please talk with Pastor Mitchell or email mitchellm@onelifechurch.ca. There will be a brief meeting for those interested in volunteering this Sunday at 1:30 PM at the church!
