ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
A Still, Small Voice There are so many powerful moments mentioned in scripture! The miracles, signs, and wonders that are recorded throughout the Bible are truly amazing and inspiring to read.
Did you know, though, that while some of the greatest miracles in scripture were shown to large crowds of people, some moments were ushered in not with fire, wind, and lights, but with quiet humility and gentleness?
Mary and Joseph were each told about Jesus being born to them separately while they were each alone and yet the shepherds received the news from the glorious heavenly army.
Elijah witnessed God set fire to an offering doused in water in front of a large crowd (1 Kings 18), and yet not long after that, the Lord passed by him on the mountain — not through a powerful wind or a terrible earthquake, or a blazing fire — but through a gentle whisper (1 Kings 19:11-12).
Often we look for God to speak to us with an unmistakable sign in the sky or with a loud voice, but let's not diminish the power of God speaking to us gently and intimately. He can choose to speak to us in so many ways. Sometimes, it might be through a strong corporate word in the middle of a service, and sometimes it might be a quiet thought that comes privately while you are at home or in your car. Both are equally powerful!
Let's take time this week to listen and not forget the beauty of God speaking to us in a still, small voice.

"...and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice." 1 Kings 19:12 NKJV
