ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
Exploring The Word
Do you remember exploring as a child? Everything was an adventure! We used to love exploring outside in our backyards, or at the park — anywhere and everywhere we could!
The thrill of discovering new things and then collecting a variety of "treasures" from our adventures to bring home was so exhilarating. Maybe it was a special rock or a pine cone, or a walking stick.
What if we had that same excitement when it comes to reading our Bibles? What if we approached studying God's Word like going on those exploration adventures that we did when we were eight?
There is so much to be found in God's Word. So many life-giving treasures to be uncovered.
In Jeremiah, chapter 15, the prophet Jeremiah writes about feeling troubled by what he was seeing and experiencing around him. But in verse 16, he says:
When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God of Heaven's Armies.
(Jeremiah 15:16 NLT)
Encountering God's Word changed him. Reading God's words reminded him of who he was, and he became encouraged and excited again!
This week, go on an exploration adventure in God's Word! Let God's words fill your heart with excitement and let them become your heart's delight!
