ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS

The Unique Journey of a Snowflake
Do you remember as a child, learning that every snowflake is unique and different - that no two are exactly alike?

This is because each snowflake follows a different path through the atmosphere as it forms, encountering slightly different temperatures, humidity levels, and air currents. This leads to a vastness of different growth patterns as the flakes form and fall. Finding two exactly alike is virtually impossible!

If you heard about the uniqueness of snowflakes as a child, it was probably followed up with the fact that - similarly - each person in the world is unique and created differently by God, just as the snowflakes are all created differently.

It's comforting and even inspiring to remember that we are all created specially before God with a unique design and purpose that no one else has in the same way.

But there is another aspect to the metaphor between the uniqueness of snowflakes and humans that should also be touched on. And sometimes, we need this reminder just as much:

Just as we are all personally created unique from one another, our journeys are vastly unique as well. Just as each snowflake encounters a different set of conditions as it moves through the atmosphere, it's the same with us.

And as much as we may know and accept that we are created different from each other, we often strive for our journeys to look similar. It can be so easy to fall into comparison and feelings of inadequacy wh
en we don't measure up to our perceived standard and timeline for our journey.

When others have a breakthrough and we are still waiting... Or when we seem to struggle in different ways than others around us do.

The bible warns about this in Galatians, chapter 6. In verse 4, it says:

Let everyone be devoted to fulfill the work God has given them to do with excellence, and their joy will be in doing what's right and being themselves, and not in being affirmed by others. (Gal. 6:4, TPT)

During this season, remember the uniqueness of each snowflake. Not just in its physical pattern, but also in its journey. And then trust God with your own journey, as beautiful and crazy as it might be.
