ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS

Like Trees Planted
There is an area of land just outside of the town of Fernie, BC that has some of the most amazing trees! The area has been named the Old Growth Forest, due to the age and size of many of the trees that grow there.

The ancient trees are Western Red Cedars and their trunks can easily measure 10 meters around. They stretch majestically overhead, and some are reportedly up to 800 years old!

As you stand in the forest and look up into the massive leafy canopies overhead, you can feel so small in comparison.

But one of the things you may not notice are the roots. If you look around the base of the trees, you can see them - large and extensive - travelling out in all directions across the forest floor. You can only see a small portion of the roots before they disappear underground. But you can tell by looking at them that those trees are well-anchored.

God has spoken to us in His word about the importance of being rooted.

In Jeremiah 17:8, it says:

They will be like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green and they never stop producing fruit.

The Bible makes it clear that being planted in the Lord and the truth of His Word is not only a safe place to survive, but also a place to thrive and grow exponentially!

Just like those giant trees in the Old Growth Forest that have grown and survived for so long, we can anchor and root ourselves in Christ and thrive as we stay connected to Him.
