One Look From Jesus
Luke 19 tells an interesting story of a man named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in a region where Jesus was travelling through.

Zacchaeus wanted to see who Jesus was, but he was small in stature and couldn't see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a tree so he could see Jesus as He walked by.

When Jesus walked by, the bible says He looked up at Zacchaeus and called out to him, saying:

"Zacchaeus! Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today."

That was surely a shock for Zacchaeus! And for the whole crowd around them. Zacchaeus was known in the area as a notorious sinner (verse 7). A dishonest tax collector who cheated the people. And yet Jesus noticed him and called to him by name. 

Maybe even more surprising is the fact that Zacchaeus then welcomes Jesus into his home, where he declares that he will give half of his wealth to the poor and give back to the people four times what he cheated from them.

Zacchaeus started out as the villain of the story. But Jesus looked at him and with one encounter, changed his entire life - and not only his life, but the lives of everyone in the entire region who was under Zacchaeus. And all because Jesus stopped, looked up, and talked to him.

What will Jesus accomplish through us if we stop and look at those around us and speak His love to them?  

"When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. "Zacchaeus!" he said. "Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today."

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ray Hankle. Ray passed away on August 18th. Our thoughts and prayers are with them in this difficult time.

 
With the upgrades to our stage and media, we are in need of more volunteers! The media team is looking for people to run the cameras, switchboard, and pro-presenter. The music team is looking for drummers and keyboard players. If you are interested, please email the office or talk to Jonathan Wagenaar.

 
One Life Church and Third Day Victory Church are joining forces to bring your kids some amazing fun this summer with Day Life Camps! The final day is this Thursday, August 21st, from 9 AM to 4 PM. Free registration for kids ages 5-11. For more information, contact Jody at jody@3dwc.ca
