Connecting Lives, Building Faith, Releasing Destiny

ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS

A Planting Of The Lord
Who do you think you are? We can read that question and think of many different thoughts and responses to it. But let's break it down. Who do YOU think you are?

Often, we set expectations for ourselves and who we want to be. Expectations that - while usually set with good intentions - we are seldom able to live up to them fully and consistently. And as a result, we tend to unleash a fury of self-inflicted disappointment upon ourselves day after day. It might not seem like much, but we can unintentionally tear ourselves down so much, that it can create a lot of anxiety, and a poor image of ourselves - an image that God certainly doesn't have of us.

Now, of course, having goals to grow in our character and to set ourselves on a better path following God's will is good - and important. The problem usually isn't with the goals we set - it's trying to do them in our own strength and then beating ourselves up when we can't follow it through.

We were never meant to conquer this life alone. We were meant to be more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37).

Isaiah 61, verse 3b says, They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of His splendor. (NIV).

The Lord is the one who plants us! Everything we do we do in partnership with Him and for Him.

So instead of beating ourselves up when we fall short, let's make a habit of running to Jesus, inviting Him daily into our messy lives, and trusting Him to lead us through. It won't always be easy. But we will never be alone.

He has called us oaks of righteousness! We are planted by Him to display His splendor in this world!

Email Verses 2024 (14)
"They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of His splendor."
Isaiah 61:3b (NIV)
