ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS

Every Glorious Work Of God
Do you ever just stop and notice something beautiful around you? You might be walking down the street, thinking over your mental checklist for the day when you stop and see something.

Usually, it's something subtle - like a small flower growing out of the concrete, or the colors of the sky changing slowly as the sun rises. Or, it could be a bird hopping along the path in front of you.

Those moments pull us out of the busyness and distractions inside of our minds and cause us to wonder at the little, beautiful things around us. Things we might've missed, had they not been directly in our path.

They are like small gifts from above to remind us that small, wholesome, beautiful moments still exist everywhere - even when we don't notice them.

Just like those moments in creation that make us stop and marvel, in the Bible, there is a verse in Philippians, chapter 4, that reminds us of things that God wants us to stop and take notice of:

Verse 8 in The Passion Translation reads, Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising Him always. 

So often our minds are filled to the brim with anxiousness and worry. But God commands us to fix and fasten our thoughts on things that are true, beautiful, and holy.

Let's take time to notice three things this week:

1. Something Authentic & Real
We can do this by spending time in God's Word. 

2. Something Honorable & Beautiful.
We can look for small things in creation that God has created for us to enjoy!

3. Something Merciful & Kind
Remember something that God has done for you in the past and think about it throughout your day.

Let's fasten our thoughts on every glorious work of God and praise Him for each one of them!

A Reminder that Plan To Protect Training is this Wednesday, May 14th at 7:00 PM at the church.
If you can't make it on Wednesday, there will be a training date on Saturday, May 24th at 9:00 AM as well.

Join us this Thursday morning (May 15th) for our monthly Seniors Breakfast at 9:30 AM at the Nord-Bridge Seniors Centre.

We are excited to have a special Water Baptism Service on Sunday, June 1st! Invite a friend and come celebrate with those who are making a public declaration of their faith! Service starts at 10:25 AM. If you would like to be baptized, talk to Pastor Wayne or Pastor Mitchell.

 Just a reminder the church office will be closed this coming Monday, May 19th for the Victoria Day long weekend.
