ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
He Is My Safe Place A safe place. What do you think of when you hear those words? The place in your childhood home where you used to hide during a storm? Being in the presence of a good friend or a trusted family member? Memories of safe places and people often remain in our minds forever because they were/are places of refuge for us. They brought us peace in the midst of fear and uncertainty. Did you know that the Bible says that God is a safe place for us? Psalm 91 paints a beautiful picture describing how God is a shelter and a refuge for us:
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.(verse 1–2)
The next couple of verses continue,
For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. (Verses 3–4)
What a glorious picture of God being a loving, safe place for us, not only during the storms of life, but through every season of our lives.
This week, read Psalm 91. Remind yourself of His promises of protection. If you are feeling alone or afraid of what life may bring, draw near to God. He is a safe place for us to find shelter in the storms, and peace in the chaos.
