Walk In The Light
The concept of light is a major theme throughout the bible. It is referred to both in the physical sense, and metaphorically to describe purity, truth, life, and guidance.

In the beginning, light was the first thing that God spoke into being (Genesis 1:3).

Jesus calls Himself the Light of the World (John 8:12), and encourages us that if we follow Him, we won't continue to walk in darkness.

1 John 1:7 says, But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. 

Why does the bible talk so much about walking in light, and what does it have to do with our relationship with God and each other?

1. There is Truth in Light
When we walk with Christ, we walk in a pathway of truth. Nothing is hidden. When light shines in a dark space, we can suddenly see what is there. Light represents His truth that illuminates every situation we find ourselves in, giving us a path of hope and wisdom forward.

2. There is Safety in Light
If you have ever walked down a dark alley or into a pitch black room before, you know how uneasy it can make you feel. It's dangerous because you can't see what's in front of you. There is safety in our walk with Christ and with other believers when we are walking in the light together.

3. There is Confidence in Light 
Where there is truth and safety, confidence in the identity, plan, and direction that God has given us for our lives grows, and we can grow stronger in our fellowship with each other as well.

These are only a few of the benefits of choosing to walk in the light that Jesus offers us!

Lord, help us to walk fully and completely in your light every day of our lives, and to let the truth of your Word and your Presence illuminate our path.

Join the OLC Seniors Connect as they meet for breakfast and fellowship this Thursday morning (April 16th), at 9:30 AM at the Nord-Bridge Seniors Centre 1904 13th Ave North.

One Life Church is hosting a Holy Spirit Empowerment Weekend, April 24–26, 2026. Cost is $25/person, with anyone aged 25 and under attending for only $5!
