Drawn To The Light
It's fascinating to watch how creatures are drawn to light. Many memories of summer nights outdoors include insects like moths and mosquitoes circling around the light of lanterns and other light sources.

In the winter, back before Christmas trees had LED lights, many pets like cats and dogs would be drawn to snooze under the warmth from the lights on the Christmas trees. 

As humans, we are attracted to lights as well. We put them in, on, and all around our homes - not only to help us see, but to add warmth, comfort, and cheer to the atmosphere. We even drive around to see the lights that others have put on their houses during the holiday season.

Light illuminates and reveals things that would otherwise be hidden. Light can also spread warmth and give protection. Something about light inspires us and makes us feel a little safer. But where do we get this fascination with light? Where does it come from?

When we look in the bible, the reason becomes clear. Just look at these verses below:

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." 
- John 1:4-5

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
- James 1:17

We are drawn to light because God, the Father, and Jesus both reveal that they are the source of light! In the beginning God created light, and Jesus said He is the light of the world. So it's no wonder we are drawn to it.

Thank you, Jesus, for being our light! Help us to show forth the light of your love to all those around us so that they can be drawn to it during this season!

Join us tonight at 6 PM for a powerful time of prayer as we seek God and pray for the needs of the church, the city, and beyond. Tuesday evenings at 6 PM at OLC.

We need your help to transform the church stage for Christmas! Come out and help decorate and set up the stage this Saturday at 9 AM! Many hands make light work!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who took a shoebox to pack for Operation Christmas Child! Please remember to bring your packed shoeboxes back to the church this Sunday, November 23rd.



There are just a few tickets remaining for Ladies Red Night, which will be on Monday, December 1st at 6:30 PM! Join us for dessert and a special program, with a timely message from guest speaker, Jennifer Mitchell! Tickets are $15.00. To reserve yours, call the church office or visit the Connect Hub.
