ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
My Mouth Shall Tell Do you ever stop and think about how many things God has done for you just in this last week? This last day? This last hour?
Often we can become so focused on the things that we want Him to do for us, that we forget to acknowledge and remember all of the things that He already has done for us. All of the prayers that He has answered.
More than giving us breath in our lungs for another day, can we remember the little things He did for us? That encouraging word He put on your heart to give your friend; or the fact that somehow, your needs for this week were provided for?
The Bible makes it clear that God does desire for us to make requests of Him.
James 4:2-3 says that we have not because we ask not. And Philippians 4:6-7 tells us to make our requests known to God.
The writers of the books in the Bible present many requests to God throughout its pages, but even more than their requests, they continually bring to remembrance all of the things that God has already done for them.
One reason that this was done was to preserve and pass down the history of God moving in the Hebrew people. It also was a reminder that God is good and can be trusted. That He does still perform miracles, work in impossible ways, and still speaks to His people - leading them through difficult times. Speaking it out causes our faith in Him to rise!
The Psalms have countless examples of speaking forth remembrance of God's actions on behalf of His people.
My mouth shall tell of your righteous acts and of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is more than I know. - Psalm 71:15 AMP
... when I remember You upon my bed and meditate on you in the night watches. For you have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings will I rejoice. - Psalm 63:6-7 AMP
As a bird sings out in the morning, let our voices speak out the wonderful things that our God has done for us! Let our hearts think on and remember how He has moved in our lives and praise Him for it.
May our mouths tell of the marvelous acts of our God!
"My mouth shall tell of Your righteous acts and of Your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is more than I know." Psalm 71:15 AMP
